The 10th MBC Gyeryong International Open Taekwondo Championship, hosted by the MBC International Open Taekwondo Organizing Committee and Daejeon MBC to promote Taekwondo, was successfully held over five days in Gyeryong, the defense capital of South Korea, with more than 2,500 participants from 31 countries.
We sincerely extend our deepest gratitude for the enthusiastic support and cooperation from the City of Gyeryong and all related organizations.
While our Organizing Committee successfully hosted the largest tournament in our history, we regret that there were some shortcomings in the match operations carried out by the electronic sensor systems company. However, we must also express our deep concern regarding individuals — such as one who was previously imprisoned for offenses including the forgery of private documents, and another who was disciplined while serving as a referee under the Korea Taekwondo Association — who are now working in the media and exaggerating minor issues.
We are also deeply disappointed by the actions of an individual who, for over 20 years, has persistently filed lawsuits and complaints, and was recently referred to the prosecutor’s office for incidents including disrupting a board meeting and assaulting a vice president. Although this person did not participate in the tournament, they came to the venue during the event, focused on finding faults, incited parents, and shared negative reports with the media.
The Organizing Committee sincerely reflects on the issues that arose during the tournament. Although our resources may be limited, we remain committed to doing our very best to further promote the development of Taekwondo.
We are truly grateful for your continued support.
We wish you good health and lasting happiness.
Thank you.
